Today we got your new calendars and the first two stamps were for: Ser vs. Estar and the 2 signature on La Moneda. Then we watched La Rutina Diaria and you wrote the spanish that is said and what you thought the translation in English would be. Then we went over the Quizlet for Verb quiz 8a and took the verb quiz, conjugating Poder and Querer. Then I gave the homework assignment. The comparisons page you received a few times ago and the Halloween sentences using comparisons you received last time. You also signed up to bring something to La Fiesta para El Día de Los Muertos on Tuesday October 31st!!!

Today we did a Calentamiento to review your tarea "Ser and Estar" . Then we reviewed the homework. Memorize your acronyms COOTEDOM and CLIMAC for Ser and Estar (rules for usage). Then we started working on some Dîa de los muertos papers. We went over the Halloween vocabulary and did some sentences in class. Then I sent you home with "La Moneda" to read to your parents in English. Use the back when you run across words you don't know, they are in alphabetical order. Get two signatures.
We watched the beginning of "The Book of Life". I gave you stamps. Then I handed out two papers but you only had to do the Ser and Estar packet for homework. We will be doing a lot of "Dia de los Muertos" activities culminating in a celebration on October 31st where you will be required to bring an item that you sign up for for a 10 point assignment. Please bring permission sips and pay $2.50 at finance office for the field trip on Friday to Greenwood Elementary.
Today we did a warm-up with some pretty long sentences using ropa vocab. I gave you the stamp today for that warm up. Then we reviewed and took the 7a Verb Quiz (will be on next term) Then I collected pesos. I will work out the class average and put in peso grades. Duolingo was due on Friday so those should all be in. Home work was a white paper about gustar-type verbs.
Today we had some fun earning pesos with team competitions. You came up to the board and wrote vocabulary and short sentences related to La Ropa unit. We will have verb quiz #7 on Monday and you will be turning in your pesos. Your calendars will be turned in on Wednesday. I have added in any Duolingo points that you have earned for the term. The Ropa Quiz is still retakeable until Tuesday afternoon.
We had an advisory period today!!! We addressed the Lone Peak Mission Statement " Committing Minds to Inquiry, Hearts to Compassion and Lives to the Service of Mankind. I am taking some students down to Greenwood Elementary to interact with the Latino students there on October 18th. Please pay the finance office $2.50 for the bus to the Greenwood Trip account and have your parents sign this permission slip. Please return the signed permission slip and the receipt for the $2.50 to Señora Montrose no later than Monday October 16, 2017.
We also grouped into peer tutoring groups so as to assist one another with : Verb Conjugations, writing bienvenidas, studying vocab, pronunciation and spelling. It was a productive day for those who stayed on task. We have pushed verb quiz #7 to Monday and will be doing a Peso Competition and turning in pesos on Thursday. All La Ropa Quiz re-takes must be completed no later than October 17, 2017. Homework consisted of two papers. One was Yellow and was practice for Stem-Changing Verbs. The other was buff colored and was the story of Carlos and his dressing habits. This one had several reading comprehension questions on the back. Today we took verb quiz #6 (which will go on the next term) and the paper on school uniforms. No homework except for needing to have School Uniform paper filled out according to instructions.
Today we took La Ropa Prueba for 85 points. You had 26 ropa terms matching, two verb trees, and 7 sentences that you had to translate from English to Spanish. We did a warm-up to prepare as well as possible for the sentence portion. As all tests and quizzes in my classroom, you may re-take this test for the next two weeks until the last day of the term. The last few grades that will go on the term will be: This Test, The last calendar, pesos, and your warm-ups that I have been collecting all term. I will also add in any Duolingo points you have earned by the 13th. NO HOMEWOKK!!
Today we got new calendarios. I announced the Ropa Quiz next time, el miércoles. We went over Duolingo once again during class. We also went over the Ropa Quiz quizlet for the test. I gave the stamps from last time (Tener Expressions and La Ropa section 3) and today was the pink Ropa packet. We watched a short clothing video and filled out a white half sheet with questions from the video and wrote sentences on the back. That is the homework and to study for the quiz on Wednesday:)
