Today you have a sub. It is a short day.
Hopefully you will discuss Values for a short minute. Everyone has things they value over others and we are all different. Our values can change as we grow and mature and as we have life experiences. You will be given a values survey. Try to choose your best answer. At the end of the survey it describes how to score it on the back. The categories that get the highest score are those you put at a higher priority or value more right now in your life. Once you have completed that . Take the 16 Personality Test. Make sure document your results. Take a picture, send yourself an email, etc. Then dig deep into what is it saying about your specific personality type. Then go to the Discussions link in Canvas. Click on the Overarching Category you tested in: For example: Sentinel (bluish green), Diplomat (Green), Analyst (dark purple) or Explorer(mustard yellow) Make a post telling this: Does these results resonate with you? In what ways does it sound like you? In what ways does it not sound like you? When you submit your post you will be able to see others responses that are in your same category.

Today you have a sub!
Go back to Canvas Healthy Self Day 3 Decision Making Go in and do the Journal Entry first Go over the PowerPoint and take notes if necessary to remember Take the Decision Making Quiz Then go over the Goal Setting Powerpoint. This will set you up for the movie that you will be watching on Friday. Today we discussed Mental Illness and Disorders and Suicide. I also showed you these video clips
How to talk about Suicide The Cage Brave Today we addressed Coping with Stress and Loss. We read some of the reading on Canvas and watched a short clip of the Ted Talk by Amy Cuddy. Then we participated as a class in "Cross the Line" to gain empathy, understanding and connection. Then we did a white board activity and talked about Healthy and Less Healthy coping strategies (behaviors to help us deal with stress and trauma) you wrote down everything from Talking to others, participating in sports, reading, journalling, to Netflix bingeing, eating, sleeping, crying, to lashing out, self-harm, drugs, alcohol, sexual promiscuity and bullying. We discussed how if we see people or know that they are using less healthy coping strategies that we can try to have more compassion and less judgment as we realize that they are most likely going through some sort of trauma or challenge in life.
You have two self-check activities on Canvas to complete. You can take the 5 question quiz-type on as many times as you need. Hi Guys!! So sorry I haven't started posting yet on the Health page. The first day of class I introduced myself and we interviewed and presented each other. We watched this Prince Ea Video. The second day of class last week we talked about Emotions. There are no good or bad emotions just comfortable and uncomfortable ones. It is important to feel all emotions and let them pass through you without judgment. We did a meditation that helped us try that. We also watched a small clip from Brené Brown and discussed vulnerability and connection. Everyone wrote down an emotion on a slip of paper and when they last felt it very strongly and then we pulled a different person's sheet out of a bucket. I discussed the Resiliency Paper that will be due in this class in a few weeks and posted it on Canvas.
