Don't forget to do the parent interview and How well do I know my Parent and How well do I know my teen questionairres. Also you will need to do final few pages on your own before turning in. If you are missing a stamp that everyone else in your class received then you will need to do a Make-Up assignment related to the day that you missed.

We had a sub today so we started watching "Cheaper by the Dozen"
Don't forget to be working on your RBA's. Also do your parent interviews on Dating and What I know about my Parent and What I know about my child We will finish watching Cheaper by the Dozen on Monday and have Women"s Abuse presenters on Wednesday and Friday. Today we started a conversation about Dating. We followed your guided notes in your packet and discussed why we date, how we date, what are warning signs of bad relationships, etc. Please have the conversation about dating in your packet and have your parents sign the document that you did indeed have the conversation.
Today we addressed Online Safety. We watched a PowerPoint with video clips about all aspects of keeping safe online. You filled out notes in your Social Health Unit Packet. I reminded you to be taking note of your deposits and withdrawals in your RBA this weekend:)
Today we finished the Friends PP notes. Then I showed you a short Nick Vujicic video. Then we did some speed conversations as we rotated around the room. I had some possible conversation starters on the board. We tried to use open-ended questions like Tell me about your family? Or who is your favorite teacher and why? But encouraged you to think of your own questions. Half way through we talked about what was working and what wasn't. Things like eye contact, smiling, acting like you were happy to be there, asking follow up questions, etc. were working well. Things like monotone voice, acting bored, just reading questions off of the board and not really listening to the answers were among the things that weren't working. Then we watched a TED talk by Celeste Hedley entitled 10 Ways to Have a Bette Conversation
Today we finished our Health Relationships Notes (separate from Social Health Packet) and I gave you a stamp for being present last time. If you missed last time my previous blog post have the things that you need to do or to watch to make up that day. Then we began our guided notes for Friends and Peer Pressure and I also gave you a stamp for being here. If you were absent, you need to get the notes from a friend and also do a make-up assignment in the Social Health Unit, preferably about Peer Relationships. We discussed the RBA assignment. You have the rubric and have hopefully chosen with whom you are going to do it. Make a journal of deposits and withdrawals that you make in that relation ship over the next 30 days. Don't forget.
.Today we filled in the last part of your Communication guided notes and then began our discussion on Healthy Relationships. We watched a Ted Talk about Listening and I showed a short clip explaining how to change someone's mind. I also gave you an addendum to your Social Health Packet on Healthy Relationships. Here is the PowerPoint to go with those guided notes. Then I gave you an assignment to choose with whom you would like to build a better RBA over the next 30 days.
We officially started the Social Health Unit. I gave the pre-test and handed out a packet for the unit. We watched a quick clip of "whose on first" and tried to describe drawings to each other and then took notes at the beginning of our packet about communication.
If you missed class you will need to do all three of the activities under Health Day on Health Make Up page :) |
