I forgot to mention in my last post that I assigned the Career Clarity guide to all students.
We finished up talking about Developing Refusal Skills and Discussed Set It, Say It and Show It and the Concept of Yes No Yes. Online Students Do the: Decision Making Assignments Overcoming Relationship Pressure My in-class students have a packet we are filling out. We got out the computers and opened up the canvas Human Growth and Development link, scrolled past pregnancy videos and filled in the puberty changes in Males and Females. I asked you to continue reading past the picture of the boy and girl to the end of that link. It discusses the Emotional and Social changes that occur during puberty as well. Very important reading.

Today we began our Human Sexuality Unit. We start by discussing Goal Setting. If you are present in class we go through lesson together and your homework is just the parent interview. If you are online, then you need to do all parts of the goal setting unit. Everyone needs to do the parent interview.
We watched Prince Ea . We were also able to watch a video that came with the Choosing the Best Journey curriculum. The difference between a dream and a goal is a goal is written down. Be passionate about what you want to accomplish in life. Find your internal locus of control instead of always letting external factors determine your life's journey. Create a vision board. This is similar to your personality collage but how you see your life in 5, 10 , 20 years. What would be on that poster? Maybe make one to put on your bedroom wall. Then we watched this to top off the hour. We actually open up our computers today and grow through a lot of this section together. It is super helpful in understand others and dynamics and personality traits of others and how those can contribute or take away from a healthy relationship. We both read silently, take turns reading, or I read a lot. There are some funny Studio C Videos you can watch and I also had us watch a few music videos displaying healthy and unhealthy relationships. Unhealthy ones www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1DcMvzV1mI www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-ORhEE9VVg Healthy ones www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlZxZ2n2zpw www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZLbUIa7exE We watched a ted talk on Vulnerability. We discussed the necessity for vulnerability in our relationships to truly connect. Then we went through the class and everyone had a chance to say "If you really knew me... " we got a variety of responses from being double-jointed to being passionate about a sport, to feeling emotions deeply, to experiencing a recent move or change in your family dynamics. I am so thankful for the things you all shared.
