Another online learning day:)
I need you guys to have all of your future and conditional endings memorized and know these irregular roots: tener, poner, poder, querer, hacer, haber, We will have a quiz on Wednesday. Also study your food words so that you can start using them for conversations and writing. If you spend some time today studying and memorizing these things you will be ROCKING IT when you get back. Remember that a Novice High:
Me gusta(n) No me gusta(n) Tengo que ... Voy a ... Me gustaría... Prefiero Probar is to try or to taste so with that one verb you can say:
Add this concept; Prefiero la carne más que las verduras. (I prefer meat over vegetables).or El postre tiene mas azúcar y grasa que la ensalada. (Dessert has more sugar and fat than salad) And you can do even more. Your assignments for today are on Canvas.

You have a substitute today because I am at a district meeting for all Spanish 2 teachers.
Please be well-behaved for Señora Salmond. You will be getting a vocabulary sheet with food items for the food unit. You also will receive a paper explaining how to say that you like, don't like or hate certain items. Since we have learned how to use conditional, you could also write/talk about things that you would like or would try. Me gustaría probar (I would like to taste/try) sushi. Yo probaría (I would try). I have provided you with several quizlets in Canvas. Quizlet for Comida is the key vocabulary but try the others as well as it will give you more words to speak about food. You may study the key vocabulary with the paper or on quizlet for the first 20 minutes of class. Then I would like you to get white boards and markers from the front of the classroom and quiz each other. First say the word in Spanish and have them write the word in English on the white board. Then test each other the other way around telling them the English and having your partner try to write the word out in Spanish. When using your computer or phone to study, you can actually have Quizlet pronounce the words for you.
Today we spent the class period on a board warm-up doing future and conditional sentences. I gave you the verb and you had to define it, put it in third person present, future and conditional. Here is the sheet. Then you took a "test" with help from me and the verbs still up on the overhead. On the test, you see the verb written out in present tense on a certain spot on the tree and you will then write that same verb in future and in conditional. If the sentence said, "I eat the bananas all day. (Yo como los plátanos todo el día.) then you would write comeré, and comería or I will eat and I would eat. Thursday you will have a substitute and the lab is open this week. Don't forget that you must go once per term. Also, the bienvenidas start on Tuesday so if you are doing one next Tuesday come in and see me tomorrow or Friday or Monday before school so that we can look it over:)
Today we started with a warm-up on Conditional (would) like your homework. You also turned in your conditional homework. For those who missed more than 3 on your Future Warm-Up, I gave you a make-up paper to replace those points. Those are due by next time. Then the last half of the period we played "Adivina La Canción" Guess the song. All of the songs I played were in English but you had a list of I will our would phrases on your paper and worked in teams to guess which song I was playing. Super fun!
Today we did a warm-up reviewing Future and you turned it in. Anyone who hadn't completed Future purple packet turned it in at the beginning of the period. Those who didn't understand the warm-up still will be doing a make-up assignment on Friday. Those who did don't have to. We watched No se habla de Bruno from Encanto and I pointed out some weather words, some ir + a formula, some future and some conditionals in the song. Then I gave you a new paper with conditional verb endings on it. Future and Conditional: both use whole infinitive and have the same exception irregular roots. The conditional is even easier to memorize as it has ía, ías, ía, íamos, íais, ían as the endings. You will finish the front and back of that paper for homework.
Today we had the first day of the year and the semester and the term!! It was nice to get back to you all. We had some shifting of students from one period to another and also got some new students so that is great to change things up a bit!
We are also very blessed to have 2 TA's from Spain and 1 from Peru, as well as a student from Mexico. Almost every period has the opportunity to have some additional cultural insight. In class I handed out a purple packet on Future. We took plenty of time to work on it in class and it is due at the beginning of the period on Wednesday. We watched a short clip of a song from Frozen with future in it. We also discussed how everyone will be doing a Bienvenida this term and you went in and signed up for a day to present. All of the descriptions and tools to write your bienvenida or on Canvas. We have been doing the practice IPA on December 6 and the Reading Comprehension IPA on December 8, and the Speaking and Writing IPA's on the 10th. Today we did an opportunity for those students who just needed 5 points or less to bring up their grade.
Make-Up IPA's need to be completed Tuesday after school, Wednesday before school and Wednesday after school. Grades are final. Some students took the opportunity to work on other classes today. Feliz Navidad y Propero Año Felicidad! Today we did a Gimkit Bell Quiz and then we took a practice ipa. Here is the link to complete this IPA if you were absent. Monday we will practice speaking and writing and Wednesday is the READING IPA, AND FRIDAY IS THE SPEAKING AND WRITING IPAS. ALL LATE WORK NEEDS TO BE COMPLETED BEFORE WE START THE IPAS ON WEDNESDAY!
I have provided you with several gimkits to work on that will better prepare you for the IPA on December 8 and 10. They are all in Canvas. You must do all of them the day of class unless you are absent and even then, they are due the Sunday before you come back from the break:) They are called. Gimkit Reflexive Verbs infinitive Yo, Gimkit Reflexive Verbs Conjugation Assignment and Gimkit Reflexive Verbs in Context. If you did not complete your assignment from last time, take time to complete that. If you were gone last Friday, get the paper from the Substitute.
