Tomorrow we will do the practice presentational #1 from the same paper that we did the practice presentational #2. I also have some food magazines for you to talk to each other about the pictures. Work on your vocabulary today so that you will have the necessary tools to discuss the food items with each other. Also, come prepared with any questions that you might have;)

We spent the period doing a practice IPA. You were able to take it home and we will go over anything you still need help with on Thursday in preparation for the IPA next week. I will open an assignment on Canvas where you can submit questions or samples of your speaking or writing you would like to run by me in preparation for next week:)
Today we spent the entire period REALLY LEARNING the regular preterite endings. After all of the review, I made everyone take the Verb Quiz 3 (1st period did it on line under my watchful eye the rest did a paper and pencil test) I need to know if you really know it, not just found a way to "beat the game". I no-counted previous quizzes for 3 and preterite and EVERYONE (including ONLINE AND ABSENT students will need to schedule to come in and take the IN PERSON test sometime next week. Next week we will take a Sample IPA and see what we need to work on and the IPA'S FOR THE UNIT AND TERM 3 are scheduled for March 1st and March 4th. ALL IPAS WILL ALSO BE IN PERSON! I have had Covid and have also had both vaccinations!! Come in either during one of my Aday periods and take with the rest of the class or schedule a time to come in after school or possibly on a Wednesday!
Today we had our Fiesta de San Valentín. We broke into parejas that I directed. You asked each other some general questions about food and drink preferences and then a few of the parejas competed in a "Newlywed" type scenario where we asked questions you had to answer about your partner. We sang some Karaoke songs en español, watched a few romantic movie clips en español with subtitles en español también. Then I instructed everyone to complete the Listening practice: Desayunos Típicos de México in Canvas. We will complete a practice IPA over the next few periods in preparation for the upcoming unit IPA on March 1, 4 and 8th.
Today we did a few fun things. We started by studying the Food Adjective Quizlet you can access through Canvas.
Then we did a Quizlet Live competition. Then we did the Dragones and Tacos reading comprehension together. Then I gave you an assignment to do the Practice Presentational 2. Make sure to read the instructions:) Go to the top of Comamos Unit and you should find a reading comprehension task entitled

Today we discussed the International Film Festival that you may choose to participate in. Here is the rubric and rules. In my class, I will bump up your grade 2% points at the end of the term if you fully participate and create a video to submit with a group of Spanish students. We then discussed the tool box that we have been building over the past month. 1. Food Vocabulary 2. Food Verbs and how to conjugate them 3. Like and Dislike Unit 4. Adjectives used to describe food 5. Forming questions 6. Forming longer sentences. 7.*Compare and Contrast 8.*Cultural Differences Then we did another activity with the food pictures. We rotated around and practices taking one of the pictures like the onions (las cebollas). One student would ask "Te gustan las cebollas?" The other would respond with one of three options:
You could also write a sentence like: Odio los guisantes porque no me gusta la textura. Or...No me gustan las zanahorias cuando están cocinados. We are finally taking all of our skill sets to communicate our likes and dislikes regarding food in the Spanish language. The IPA is in about another month. We will continue to hone in on our necessary skills to be more proficient in these abilities as it regards to Interpreting (Reading or Listening), Speaking and Writing. Today we spent the whole period completing the assignment Comidas Latinoamericanas. You look at the slide and click on the links and respond with the top five ingredients (give English and Spanish) Do not give measurements, just the actual items that you need.
