Hey guys!! Today was a chill day in Health. We watched 3 video clips: The first one a classic Prince Ea and the next one was an animated short, before watching, think of an insecurity that you have and how you react to other's your life with the same struggle or insecurity. The Present. The last one addresses different attachment styles that we have and how our family and how we grow up establishes these and how we interact with others. Attachment Theory. Then we finished our relationship packets in class and took some time to do some Advisory. Turning in assignments, finding your Human Sexuality Permission slip in my stack, etc. and just chilling. Missed you if you are at the second half of the alphabet.

So I am seriously missing meeting with my Health Students today. I had a student email me asking what the assignment is for today. Let's have you finish the rest of the activities in your Relationship packets. They are just more thinking activities. Put on some cool music that is good for thinking deep thoughts and fill out the rest of the sheets. We will continue to discuss healthy vs. unhealthy relationships as we meet this next week on our new schedule.
.We have been working on Relationships: Good qualities and bad. Here is the packet. It is pretty self explanatory.
Healthy Relationships packet. Resiliency Papers NEED TO BE TURNED IN. Instructions on in Canvas under the Resiliency Project. It is worth 200 points. Also I need all Human Sexuality Permission slips. .Today we discussed Peer pressure and Refusal Skills and used this PowerPoint. I am still trying to get my video up and running so that you can hear the discussions as well. :)
Read Intro for Coping with Stress and Grief. Then do Self Check following the reading. Then please continue working on your Resiliency Paper. Be Real, Dig Deep, it can be something that happened in 5th grade or yesterday but something that was hard to take. How did you react? Did you go through stages like Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance? What coping strategies did you use? Were they healthy? Have you learned anything in Health or in life that will help you to cope better the next time a challenge comes along; because one will:) Stay focused and if you complete your papers share them with me on google doc or better yet submit to me on Canvas.
Go to canvas assignment Coping with Mental Illness. Read webpage describing Mental illnesses and do self check.
Time permitting you can begin writing your Resiliency Project. Remember toa e to your google drive. Today was a great day!! We did a name game in all but B8 to try and learn our classmates names better. Then we had a white board discussion about Coping Strategies. We all have to "cope" or deal with things in life. Our goal is to discover which healthy strategies work for us, and to recognize unhealthy ones. Some healthy ones we came up with were: driving, play video games, talking to someone about our problem, journaling, meditate, listening to music that suits our mood, exercising, etc. Some unhealthy ones would be excessive video games, excessive netflixing, using depressing or unsavory social media. We could over eat, over sleep, isolate, ruminate (think about our problems too much in our head) use drugs, act out sexually, even cutting. When we see those we know using unhealthy coping strategies we should ask ourselves "Wow, what are they going through? What has happened? What pain are they trying to avoid or make go away?" Then maybe we can be more compassionate and help them rather than to judge them. We did a Calm Mediation for about 10 minutes. We also watched a video about how to change someone's mind. I handed out Human Sexuality Permission Slips. Your Personality Collages are due either physically or digitally by Friday. I also had you go into Canvas and write 2 paragraphs telling me either what you have already learned in my class or what you would be interested in learning in my class this semester!!
