Today we addressed Coping with Stress and Loss. We read some of the reading on Canvas and watched a short clip of the Ted Talk by Amy Cuddy. Then we participated as a class in "Cross the Line" to gain empathy, understanding and connection. Then we did a white board activity and talked about Healthy and Less Healthy coping strategies (behaviors to help us deal with stress and trauma) you wrote down everything from Talking to others, participating in sports, reading, journalling, to Netflix bingeing, eating, sleeping, crying, to lashing out, self-harm, drugs, alcohol, sexual promiscuity and bullying. We discussed how if we see people or know that they are using less healthy coping strategies that we can try to have more compassion and less judgment as we realize that they are most likely going through some sort of trauma or challenge in life.
