Today we talked about Communication in Healthy Relationships. We looked at several facets. We spoke about components of Communication (Verbal 7%, Tone and Expression 33%, Body Language 55%) We talked about how communication is sharing information, ideas and emotions. We discussed how important it is in ALL of our relationships to express emotion. That will help determine the depth and meaning in our relationships. We went over the 3 C's - Communication, Cooperation and Compromise. We did speed communicating!!! That was fun! We discussed Active Listening skills like: eye contact, verbal feedback, non-verbal feedback, asking questions, show interest, paying attention. We covered the 3 styles of communication: Aggressive, Passive and Assertive. And finally we practiced "I messages" where we express how we feel rather than condemning others behaviors. (No one can argue with how you feel).
