We started off the day listening to a podcast on Spotify "Unlocking Us" by Brené Brown. We only listened to the first 20 minutes that explained the differences between the emotions: Shame, Guilt, Humiliation and Embarrassment. The biggest difference being our self-talk. Did I do something I regret? Can I apologize and strive to fix the mistake? That would be guilt. "I did something wrong" - Shame would tell you "I am bad, I am a bad person, student, child etc.) Humiliation is "I did not deserve to be treated that way. Shame is "I am bad or dumb and deserved what was said" Embarrassment is acknowledging a common experience that others have had. Saying something wrong in class, tripping etc. that causes me embarrassment while understanding that it will go away and doesn't mean anything about me.
Then we did the emotional journal entry.
